AGE: he probably looks somewhere around 20ish, but he's probably been around a bit longer than that.
APPEARANCE: he's a grey tabby cat half the time, and a grey-haired human the rest of the time. No PB yet, oops, if you know of an appropriate character lemme know.
SPECIES: Bakeneko youkai.
OCCUPATION: Cat. Cat is occupation, right? okay if he has to look like he's earning his supper, he's vermin control also he likes gossip and will share if appropriately rewarded

PERSONALITY: He's the kind of person who seems very friendly and chatty, but there's a bit of a wall with new people. Likes being made a fuss of, usually, and is a little bit more loyal to people who do regularly. Likes showing off, whether it's singing or just Knowing Things. Takes a quick like or dislike to people depending on how they treat him, although generally he's more disposed to like. Probably a bit flirty these days, now he's sorta getting the hang of it and spending a bit more time in human shape.

Youkai, so he's kinda morally grey. No real respect for privacy or other people's secrets, oops. Generally not a very dangerous person- too much like work- but he is definitely capable of some minor mayhem and spitting if he's suitably pressed or cornered. Not particularly prone to honesty, although the gossip he passes on is always something he's genuinely heard; accuracy not guaranteed, however, and he never really tells the truth about himself. Sometimes he just like to toy with people a bit, because catte.

A little bit skittish, especially about getting close to people, and a little bit territorial sometimes. Mostly has his pride, so he's not about to start challenging anyone when he knows he's gonna lose or get told off. Will probably still be kind of not very respectful, though.

If someone is genuinely sad he will absolutely try and cheer them up, though. And if someone genuinely does have his loyalty, he tries to keep the gossip a bit lighter and sillier and never about the important things. But don't tell anyone, because he is a fierce and independent cat, okay.

HISTORY: How grim do I want to make it, I guess? But either way, was originally a pet cat, is now a bakeneko, probably spent a fair few years as an alley-monster-cat. Debating going with a murdered ex-master and bringing a fair amount of misfortune down on the people that did it, because I feel like a good revenge arc.

ABILITIES: Shapeshifting between cat and human and probably his lazy mostly-human-oh-I-forgot-the-ears-and-claws form. Being cute and fuzzy and having very good ears in cat form.

Also technically some small fire ability and some luck, both wishing the good and cursing with bad fortune, and probably just some outright cursing. But those take effort, and he's not going to make the effort unless it's really, really vital and/or it's getting suitably rewarded.

WANTED CR: Give him people to sleep on, people to appreciate him, maybe people to flirt with. People he can be a bit of a brat at, I guess? People who do not mind that he sometimes has a 10ft personal space bubble but will ignore everyone else's personal space.

NOTES: he is currently mostly just summed up by "a cat who has learned the importance of opposable thumbs"

Hello Ellis it occurs to me I never introduced myself so hi I'm Mimi and I'm player this loser god here who runs the teahouse + various but they can come later.

I am 100% here for a murdered ex-master/revenge arc and for your consideration, if the master was a rather well known Sukuna might know this and be more willing to help or house Haiiro.

Conversely I think it would be great if the teahouse was set up in Haiiro's territory and they had to battle for it because Sukuna is not a fighter at all. I would be keen on them being people who help each other out occasionally or they fight whenever they see each other or that Haiiro can come and go into the teahouse as he pleases since it's still 'his territory'. But cat is an acceptable and great occupation and I support it.

Also the only person I can think of off the top of my head that might be a fitting pb is this guy but if you're fine with people who don't have cat ears I can keep looking. o/

Revenge arc works for him, I think. Because generally he's not going to be that confrontational if he can get around it, it's nice to have a slightly darker backstory to surprise people with if he needs it :P

He's probably also not really willing to fight physically, as such, but he'd posture a lot about it being his space and he's just letting a teahouse be there. Also, he is owed rent for letting it be there. He'll be generous and accept one meal a month. :P

I'm still looking, honestly- there's a couple of manga I'm trying to dredge names up from, hopefully I can find them. But ears aren't really vital, I more need a bunch of friendly expressions and maybe one or two icons for the not-so-friendly moments.

I'm gonna reply with each character to keep this organized, so bear with me, friend.

I love everything you have so far honestly and I don't think it's at all too little. It sounds perfect for his character and I am here 110% for tragic backstories and revenge arcs. Get it, kitty. I don't really have anything to add???

Starting with this pup, Maren is socially awkward with people but probably does pretty well for animals because lbr, animals are generally easier. She's a soft if nervous girl and big on cleaning, so she'd probably clean up after him, brush him if he lets her, and she would definitely, definitely appreciate him and let him sleep on her. She's the sort of human who knows catte is gonna cat, so they may get along well???

Until he shifts into a human, at which point she'll probably die because he's hot and she notices, which could be confusing for him possibly? I'm here for catte, let's talk shop.

Also I am all here for people being weird about suddenly-human cat, because honestly he's probably just getting used to that bit of it, and also he probably weirds people out on purpose sometimes- how maliciously probably depends on reaction and whether or not he has a soft spot. In this case, probably it's just occasionally funny to see her flustered.

Muchi is a terrible gd influence and I'm not sure what you'd like to do, but let's do something there. He is great at socializing, however, and an experienced flirt, so maybe he can give catte tips? Or be his wingman, but also give him pets and praise. Can you imagine?

A'ight, I am here with my night sparrow based part youkai girl, who I figure may stare at the cat for being a catte on some instinctual level. I can literally imagine her watching him from whatever perch she's claimed. Probably an odd relationship. She's A-OK with him being around as long as he's not eating birds in front of her. She will reward vermin catching efforts and probably, with time, gives him scritches when she thinks no one is looking.

She probably pauses like hell when he switches to human form, though. I think it'd be funny if she's affectionate with him in catte form, but he's like the one person she pauses with when he's in his humanoid form because what's all this then? Tmw you're torn between catte but also catte is a catte and humanoid. Makes for a moody bird, potentially a hilarious relationship.

He's also been around long enough to not really have morals, so... if this cat wants to make a moderate career pivot and seek vengeance, he's supportive!

OCCUPATION: Guard, fighter/soldier
PERSONALITY: - generally, stoic and calm. He says little and observes much, and speaks more often with hand gestures or physical movements than with his mouth.
- Berserker in the truest sense of the word. Once angered, which takes a considerable amount of work, Donar is gripped by a nigh uncontrollable rage. This fury takes him to dangerously violent levels, and his ability to discern friend from foe is incredibly hampered.
- Harbors a lot of guilt, particularly due to his berserk moments. Very dodgy when it comes to allowing himself to care about people. When he cares, he's incredibly overprotective, sometimes to the point of being frustrating to people trying to make friends with that person.
HISTORY: - Raised as a fighter, known for being cool-headed on the battlefield
- Something Happened™ in an area with civilians, involving someone he was incredibly protective of. Long story short, this is when his powers awakened. No one survived except him.
- Left there, wracked with guilt and self-hatred, to get as far away from civilisation as possible. Probably picked up by someone and brought to the teahouse from there? Not completely sure.
- Been trying to control his power for the past ~2 years since their eruption, to mixed (but mostly negative) results.
- Gave up his surname when he left civilisation, and doesn't even think to bring it up anymore.
ABILITIES: - Berserker rage: pretty standard rage - he gets mad, he gets stronger and tougher.
- Frightening aura: Though it's not exceptionally strong, Donar's got an aura when in battle that reads deeply of his killing intent. This is enough to unsettle or terrify weaker-minded enemies.
- Weapons proficiency: Donar is proficient in longswords, daggers, and hand-to-hand combat. Longswords and hand-to-hand are a higher proficiency than daggers.
- Destructive power: It's difficult to define exactly what Donar's powers are, since they vary so sharply when contained compared to overflow. If uncontrolled, he can call to arms an array of devastating physical instruments that are effectively just intent given form, as well as exceptional strength. It's not hard, nor unusual, for him to use pieces of terrain - trees, lightposts, even pieces of wall or boulders - to his advantage. Almost nothing will stop him save being completely incapacitated, or having no perceived enemies left, when in this state. When controlled, these abilities remain largely the same, though at a much lower level of aptitude. Donar can endure grievous injury without question or pause, but his ability to use his surroundings or even the manifestation of intent is limited to smaller, but still deadly, objects.
- Augmented healing: Donar heals exceptionally quickly, since his Awakening. This rate seems to be the same regardless of whether or not he's been enraged. He can even regenerate limbs even when severed, provided he has the limb to reattach.
WANTED CR: - Obviously, people he wants to protect despite himself.
- People who antagonise him (or try to) maybe? Attempts to crack his stoic nature
- Someone that he's truly devoted himself to, at the very least on sight, whether he realises it or not. Someone who can stop his deepest rage with their existence, maybe.
- Sparring partners. Donar enjoys sparring, even if he can't really teach much of anything himself.
- Romance! Awkward! Embarrassing crushes on the stoic dude! Whatever, really.

- Soft-spoken and understanding
- Always encouraging of students, and ready to lend an ear to anyone who seems like they might be struggling.
- Quiet about very few subjects, though he has his secrets
- Identifies as nonbinary they/them
HISTORY: - Largely unknown, save by those closest to them
- Born in a small village, went blind at a young age.
- Awakened at a young age, and was taken to training immediately thereafter
- Probably some sad backstory I don't have yet
ABILITIES: - Compassion/teaching: Nothing supernatural here, but he has the ability lmao.
- Illusion: despite their inability to see, they're gifted in illusion. They form said illusions based on the way they perceive the world, between their being Awakened and the natural adaptation of a blind person.
- Blindsight: In addition to natural adaptation, they're capable of using their awakened senses to gain a clearer picture of the world around them.
- Enhanced hearing: Largely only due to natural adaptation.

Okakou used to be the goddess of an old podunk little village that got abandoned and dammed up into a lake! They could have met during her early years and struck up a friendship that persisted even after she lost her worshippers/started to fade. She’s seemingly very serious but she’s extremely soft and doting when it comes to the people important to her.

She's a shy, nervous type, so it depends on the grump. She might make him offerings, though, gomen and secretly think his fluffy hair is really cute. Be water buddies??? Ngl Charlie sounds like a woman Setsura needs to know given she's still a high ranking active preter merc re: the Japanese branch of the Fellowship of the Hand, the basics of which Mimi linked you, and Tokyo's her grounds. She's also perceptive and unafraid to call people out on their bullshit, but she can go either way on that depending upon circumstances, so that's something to consider?

Please give Sets and Sukuna more competent people in their lives. I'm also all for pre-existing CR link ups if you wanna run that route. I'm very easy.

Despite how silly he can get, he actually has great attention to detail which helps in his book binding and restoration business! He's got delicate paws hands that are meticulous and strong, his vision is sharp and are his pupils contracting like a cat's? Nah, it's just that cat vibe he's got, that weird obsession he has. In any case, he's also just downright sweet and happens to woo women without meaning to, even dudes. Maybe it's that weird good luck charm he has going for him?

Make no mistake though, he's also very loyal and he will protect those he cares about. If you make friends with him, you've got a friend for life.

HISTORY: SO THIS IS A STORY ABOUT HOW MY LIFE GOT TWISTED UPSIDE DOWN--

Okay no. But he really does have a weird twisted life and not in the sad, angsty way. See, Matthias was actually just a normal black cat. He was a loyal familiar to his witches, the Mossflowers, in the countryside of Ireland. However, during a particularly difficult brewing session of a potion meant to help bring luck to a poor family down the way, something had gone horribly wrong (although if it was actually horrible whose to say) and suddenly their own familiar was suddenly quite human in their home.

Did I forget to mention that the Mossflowers were massive cat fanatics? Because they were. And they were actually quite overjoyed when their furbaby became their actual baby. Well, okay not an actual baby since he was a full grown cat but you know what I mean. Once they managed to get the potion right, they set about integrating Matthias into the human world. He was able to speak like a human as as a familiar he'd already had human-level like intelligence. It was just the other stuff. Walking, eating, writing, etc. He also didn't quite fully become human as cat tendencies do come out, his canines are also a little sharper than usual, his pupils can thin to slits, his flexibility is amazing and any gymnast would be envious... and he likes to sit in boxes. And because he was the son of witches and had already been a familiar, he also learned the ways of witchcraft, specialized in herbal concoctions and remedies.

Nonetheless, he took to this new life pretty well. As they say, people's pets can imitate their owners and the Mossflowers were already easy going folk. It was as the couple grew a bit older that they decided to make the move to Japan as Mrs. Mossflower was originally from there, and to give back all the help they had given him, he opened up a small little bookshop and cafe (that primarily sold teas) to help take care of his aging "parents". Needless to say, he was a hit among the old folk of the area as he was such a cute boy with polite manners despite some of his peculiar tendencies and his cute teas like his Mobili-Tea and Vitali-Tea! He makes Quali-Tea, okay?

It was in the last few years that he learned the ways of book binding and restoration, his love of learning now that he had opposable thumbs meant he read a lot and sometimes to the point of wearing out the books or finding books that are far too old. Which worked in his favor as plenty of old folk also had beloved books that they'd like to keep even longer! Needless to say, his little shop is a small, but big hit. If you need help or just want a good cup of tea, and a listening ear, then the Lucky Cat Cafe is where you want to go! You just need to look for it.

ABILITIES: Tea making, book binding, he's flexible and strong. He basically has all the qualities of a cat just in human form along with being an apt reader and quick learner. He can made herbal remedies and imbue them with a small bit a magic for whatever it is that is ailing someone. He's also a Lucky Cat, although he's largely unaware of this, but he tends to give luck to those he likes and luck will follow him. He's a walking four-leaf clover, okay?

Hello Amanda I am Mimi and I have three losers in this verse but I feel like this particular guy + Matthias are going to get along the best because they sound like they are both cut from the same cloth. Sukuna is an ex-god who retired not too long ago to run a teahouse, he was once the god of medicine, and Sukuna enjoys peace and quiet despite constantly being surrounded by chaos. I think it would be nice if they could swap tea secrets, geek out over remedies, and just be general bros.

Sukuna also likes brewing sake and cooking + baking if any of that helps sweeten the pot.

HISTORY:
❄ Runs the Red Lantern Inn, a brothel that has been in her family for countless generations. When she was young, was taught some of the old talents of geisha for fun such as singing, dancing, and poetry. Went to school for marketing and psychology. Traveled extensively abroad to help broaden her horizons and to get a pulse on the foreign markets. Since she's taken the helm, she's opened a successful chain of love hotels.
❄ Family is a tiny yakuza clan that deals mostly in drugs and sex. They have a small territory near the Hidden Moon, and they protect that territory rabidly.
ABILITIES:
❄ Dormant human with a quarter of yukionna blood unknown to herself or her family. A little sensitive to spirits, so occasionally sees them but she chalks it up to being tired or sampling the merchandise too much. Unknowingly represses her awakening so has severe migraines that often knock her out for a day or so.
❄ Knows self-defense and judo. Very handy with a knife and is comfortable handling smaller guns if the need arises.
❄ Excellent business sense, good at detecting lies, and has great tolerance to any sort of drugs or liquor.
❄ Great at singing and dancing. Enjoys writing poetry and painting. Dabbles in jewelry making. Shoes and hair pins are a weakness.
WANTED CR: Mostly what I want for her are workers, allies, and fellow yakuza. Also anyone who wants to be recruited will be treated nicely and be compensated highly. I'm probably going to toss up a more focused ad for her but bring me anything and everything.
