general texting meme

general texting meme
To kick us off with some voice testing, here's a the meme for all those gen texts, phone calls, voicemails, pictures of your cats, and whatever else your little heart can come up with, because who doesn't like a little old fashioned friendly texting. Or enemy texting, if that's more your bag.
instructions: What it says on the tin! Leave a comment with your character, any preferences, a start, absolutely nothing, or whatever you want. Run around and reply to others. Lather, rinse, repeat.

When he picks up, there's a soft voice waiting for him.]
Good evening, Lord Ōkuninushi.
no subject
[ Does he sound particularly pleased to hear from her? He does. ]
Please, please call me Muchi. There's no need to stand on such ceremony in private!
no subject
As you wish, Lord Muchi. I hope this evening finds you well.
no subject
And you, Okakou-san.
[ But for all his energy, there's an incredibly subtly serious lilt about his tone that waxes. ]
I still want to discuss the bulk of matters in person, but there has been a development in the negative it'd benefit you to know. According to my sources, he's no longer missing.

[Her voice is like a cool, placid lake. Even ripples fade away.]
I see. Death or deception?
no subject
[ The word carries weight, the playfulness drained completely from his tone for the seriousness of the matter. ]
I'm informed it was not by his own hand despite what supposition you're sure to hear when this comes to light. I would appreciate your discretion. [ To say the least. ]

[There's a faint sound in the background. She seems to be tapping a finger, thoughtfully.]
So, murder. Was it ritualistic, a cold hunting, or a crime of passion?
no subject
[ That things are certain to grow more tense in the political atmosphere goes left unsaid. ]
no subject
[The tapping continues.]
Is there any indication on the political ripples this will kick up yet?
no subject
[ Neatly said, he may sound a smidge like he's set to recline as opposed to... well, troubled. ]
no subject
[It almost sounds like that's more annoying than concerning, given her tone.
The tapping has yet to cease, though.]
Do we know how his domain is getting taken care of, in the mean time? Succession, or split?
no subject
[ Unperturbed again, perhaps a touch amused. ]
That depends upon whether or not he reincarnates. That depends on how he died, I'd wager. Gods of power and influence are truly deathless.
[ Under normal circumstances, but Muchi thinks there's something more to the method of his demise. ]

[The . world should be very grateful Okakou is not a serial killer.]
As for the foreigners... sometimes I worry about you, Lord Muchi. You and all the rest of the older generation, who don't bat an eye at how native believers shrink more and more by the decade. A slow leak still sinks a ship, you know.

[ Which is to say, they can't very well tell anyone who murdered them to begin with and there are plenty of motives for murder outside of the long list that can be gleaned from present politics. Even so, a murder so thorough as to interrupt that power would be telling.
He pauses, however, in consideration of her second point and he can't quite help an internal groan. It seems he's never going to be free of the fall out and headache left in the wake of Sukuna's abrupt retirement. As tedious as things have been with his being unable to get away, as serious as things seem to be holding, he's honestly tired and mincing words is only getting more tiresome. There are days when he honestly wonders how she's survived in her position this long. Today is one of them. ]
You're an infant. You worry too much about things you'd do better leaving to your seniors. Focus on learning the ins and outs of your position and growing within it instead of concerning yourself with the hypotheticals of Heaven fading, which is ridiculous.
[ Impossible, really, for more reasons than he cares to state and not solely for the image of a certain god of thunder crushing the hand of his son recalled just now. Tedious, the lot of it. ]

[She sighs at him, and it isn't a frustrated, provocative one.
It's a sad, solemn one. Not pity, by any stretch, but...
It's akin to a child meeting their hero, and realizing it's just a salaryman in a suit who doesn't give a rat's ass about truth or justice.]
Even the sun itself is little more than a flame on a wick, Lord Ōkuninushi-no-kami. The land shifts, the beasts disappear, and thoughts—beliefs—change. There is nothing in this world that will ever last, save perhaps for the certainty of an end. Believing that nothing ever . has to or can change is just... setting yourself up for a very bitter round of disappointments, sooner or later. I am very aware of my position, and throw my all into it.
...though, I suppose the thought itself is meaningless to you, if not outright . humorous, given the fact your own death didn't stick the first time. Disregard what I've said, please. You live your way, and I'll live mine. That is godhood, I suppose, and I have wasted my breath. Was there anything else of note, honored elder?
[Her voice is utterly stripped of its previous... personhood, almost. There isn't a hint of insecurity or worry, bared to somebody she thought she respected. Her smooth, soft voice is almost artificial in its business-like brusqueness.
A door that had gradually crept open has swung shut and latched itself firmly, in the span of a few dismissive, pseudo-reassuring sentences.]

Your cup is too full.
[ So full there's room for no new addition. How can you learn when you already know everything? She does seem to have it all figured out, after all. That usual energy flares as though it had never been depressed. ]
Well, I'm sure you'll figure it out. Do take care, Sukunabikona-san.

My cup is growing larger by the day, worry not. I suppose I simply find the regional brew... distasteful, compared to the simplicity of my earlier years. The longer they age, the more powerful they certainly become, but... it's terribly bitter. To stomach it easily requires either numbness or an acquired taste built up with time, I presume.
But, I won't trouble a busy god such as yourself to pour for the likes of me. Good evening, sir. If you're free enough to speak with the likes of me, I recommend you visit my lord predecessor more.
