[Even though every bit of him wanted to protest, Okakou was right. He hated to have confrontations that involved any sort of romantic overtures, because it was easier to have relationships that were casual than risk getting hurt. But it must have been the numerous shoujo mangas he'd been reading with Maren-chan that was making his heart race during this scene. His eyes darted over to where Okakou had placed her hand, feeling like somehow he had wound up being a lead in one of those mangas. Somehow, without realizing it.]

[His eyes flickered back to Okakou's face, her determination giving way to the vulnerability he was used to seeing. He had thought that it was because Okakou was delicate and fragile, but clearly he'd been wrong about it this whole time. That apparently he was the reason she had looked like that.
